I've sponsored a child through Compassion since college and made it a personal goal to one day meet him in person. This goal, combined with a recent calling to take part in a philanthropic or aid focused trip in order to make an impact in the lives of others, will finally be realized in this unique opportunity to support Compassion and the Clean Water Project. I look forward to meeting Ngakwi and raising funds that will truly help improve the lives of hundreds in need. None of this would be possible without the tremendous support of the family and friends that have encouraged me to take the leap of faith. I love you all!
For those that don't know me, I'm a native born Floridian who now lives in the great state of Texas. As a graduate of the University of Florida, I'm a proud Gator fan and love SEC football! Traveling is one my passions, though this will be my first trip to Africa and my first hiking venture (go big or go home, right?). This has been a transformational year for me, as I've changed jobs, relocated to a new state, and moved away from family and friends for the first time. It's been a journey of self-reflection, where many times I've asked myself who I want to be and what my life should stand for. God has been tugging on my heart to give back, to get involved, and to make an impact, and for this reason I took the leap and am embarking on this journey. Though my intention is to make an impact on the lives of others, I'm sure the impact these people and this trip will make on mine will be far greater.
