In a few weeks I will have an opportunity to support Compassion's Clean Water for Children intervention in Arusha, Tanzania by climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro, the tallest freestanding mountain in the world. Arusha is a highly populated area where the average monthly income is $5 a month. As a result, it is burdened with illiteracy, HIV/AIDS, poor infrastructure, land scarcity for food production and a lack of clean drinking water. The families are accessing water through natural springs contaminated with fecal bacteria resulting in chronic diarrhea, intestinal parasites, cholera or typhoid fever. As a matter of fact, approximately 1.8 million of the world’s children aged five and under die each year as a result of diseases caused by unclean water.

Date of Trip: August 2015

Over the last decade I have sponsored children in Africa and Central America through Compassion International. I have been fortunate enough to witness some of their completed projects and have a great deal of respect for their mission. I know that Compassion’s intervention will provide safe, consistent and clean water to more than 1,710 children and families in Arusha and the greater community of 45,000 people. The installation of a borehole and storage tank will provide better health outcomes for the children and families in this community. I am so very excited to play a small part by raising funds for Compassion's Clean Water for Children project. Would you join me in this endeavor by donating today? 1 John 3:18 - Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.
