I have known of Compassion International’s work primarily through their sponsorship program as I have sponsored several children through them, and still do. I love the work they do in the children’s community and their approach. Last year I participated in the Kilimanjaro Challenge to raise funds for safe water in Arusha, Tanzania for 1,710 children and their families combined with an expedition to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. It was a fantastic way of participating with Compassion and their work. This year on hearing of the Inca Trail Challenge, I jumped at the chance once again to join with Compassion on an adventure to help raise funds for the vital work they do around the world.

Date of Trip: August 2015

Hi, I am Christine Stephenson. I love traveling the world, going on fun adventures while at the same time enjoying the sheer beauty of what God has created and meeting people from different cultures. I have been blessed to travel the world because of my job, for fun, for educational purposes, and on mission trips where I have been able to serve in local communities in various ways. Professionally, I am a cancer geneticist which means I get the privilege of working in a very exciting and developing field. For fun I love learning, traveling, working out in the gym, cycling, photography, reading, movies, and so on. There are many things on my list! I also enjoy teaching not just in genetics but also on various theological topics (somewhere along the way I got an M.Div.). So I do tend to be a busy person but that does not stop me from enjoying time with friends and family (family when I get to see them as most are in the UK) and, oh yes, my pet cat Trekkie. Yes, as you might have gathered from this last statement, I reside in the US but am originally from the UK (am a joint national).
